To give the illusion of slate I love using wood filler. DAP Filler Plastic Wood. After I spread it on cereal box card board I sand it down and sand the back of the card board.
Then I cut the shingles, scrape the edges and trim the corners.
You can either use wood glue to attach them to the roof or hot glue.
I need to hunt down some copper sheeting to run along the top and on the back of the shed roof then the roof will be complete.
Why do you sand the back of the cardboard shingle?
ReplyDeleteBecause the printed side is glossy and the glue may not stick as well. By sanding you create a rough surface for the glue to adhere properly.
